In the 1810, the Sino-British Opium Wars ended with China's defeat. The Treaty of Nanjing forced China plays a huge indemnity to Britain for the cost of war and imposed on China a tariff on all imported good. Since then, the Chinese civilastion was greatly concerned and challenged then the well equilibrated Chinese feudal system gradually collapsed.
